Is your bedroom a peaceful haven that allows you to wake feeling refreshed, renewed and energised?
The Feng Shui of your bedroom is particularly important because we spend approximately one-third of our lives sleeping. During sleep, our bodies and minds naturally restore, repair and recover from the stresses of daily life.
The energy within your bedroom therefore plays a significant role in your overall sense of well-being. When the energy is balanced and supportive, sleep can feel deeper and more restorative. When the energy is disturbed, it can affect rest, vitality and how refreshed you feel upon waking.
Why Bedroom Energy Matters - I consider three important factors when assessing a bedroom:
• The unseen location energy of the room
• The architecture, colour and layout of the space
• Your personal sleeping direction and positioning of the bed.
Every person is unique, and the most supportive sleeping direction can vary from one individual to another.
Children are often the first to respond to the energy of a room. Signs that the bedroom energy may need attention include:
• Resisting bedtime
• Difficulty falling asleep
• Frequent waking during the night
• Nightmares or disturbed sleep
• Feeling tired or irritable during the day
Creating a balanced, calming bedroom can help support healthier sleep patterns.
Bed Position -
Avoid sleeping beneath exposed beams, sloped ceilings or overhead cupboards.
Position your bed where you feel safe, supported and comfortable.
Mirrors -
Mirrors are generally only problematic when they reflect your face or upper body while you are lying in bed.
Colours -
Choose calming, restful colours such as:
• Soft neutrals
• Pastel shades
• Gentle earth tones
Avoid colours that are excessively bright, stimulating or visually overwhelming.
Darkness -
A dark room supports the body’s natural production of melatonin, the hormone that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle.
Temperature -
Most people sleep best in a cool, well-ventilated bedroom. A temperature of approximately 18°C (65°F) is generally considered ideal.
Create an evening routine that signals to your body that it is time to unwind.
Try:
• Reading by soft lighting
• Taking a warm bath
• Listening to calming music
• Gentle stretching or breathing exercises
• Avoiding heavy meals close to bedtime
• Reducing caffeine intake later in the day
• Limiting screen time before sleep
• Increased stress levels
• Reduced concentration and mental clarity
• Changes in appetite and food cravings
• Difficulty maintaining healthy weight balance
• Reduced energy and resilience
• Disruption to the body’s natural regulatory systems
Restful sleep allows the body and mind to recover, repair and function at their best.
As part of my Feng Shui consultations, I also assess for energetic disturbances that may affect the quality of your sleep and sense of well-being.
These may include:
• Geopathic stress
• Ley lines
• Hartmann lines
In my experience, prolonged exposure to these energies can affect how comfortable and settled people feel within a space. As part of my work, I identify and clear these energetic influences so that the environment feels more harmonious and supportive for the occupants.
Your bedroom should be more than simply a place to sleep. It should be a sanctuary that supports rest, healing, relationships and renewed energy.
Through Feng Shui, I help create bedrooms that feel balanced, nurturing and aligned with your well-being.
A beautiful bedroom does not always feel restful. Sometimes it is the unseen energy of a room that makes the difference between sleeping and truly restoring.
